DOG LICENSES

 

City Ordinance 501.05 "License Required" states; No person shall own, harbor or keep a dog over six months of age within the city unless a current dog license for such dog has been obtained. Licenses shall be issued every two years and must be renewed by July 1st of every other on a one-year basis and must be renewed by July 1st of each calendar year.

City Ordinance 501.05 "Running at Large" states; No dog shall be permitted to run at large at any time within the City. Any female dog in heat or season shall be confined in doors or in a kennel run or pen so constructed to keep other dogs out.

Residents may obtain a dog license at city hall, Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. When you apply for a dog license the city requires that you submit a receipt or statement from the veterinarian stating that your dog has had the rabies vaccination.

If your dog is picked-up by the city, and is not licensed you will be required to pay a double license fee and an impound fee of $30.00 per dog.


License Fees are as follows:
$18.00
$12.00 if the dog is spayed or neutered

Impound Fees are as follows:
$30.00 for 1st impoundment within 12 months
$45.00 for every impoundment thereafter within 12 months
