The City of the Rockford, which was incorporated as a village in 1881, is now home to over 4,300 residents, 110 businesses and offers employment opportunities for over 1,000 employees.  Some of our major employers included: Wright Hennepin Electric Cooperative, Rockford Area School District #883, Diversifoam Products, Prairie Technologies and Design Ready Controls.

Ideally located along Highway 55, just 30 miles west of the metropolitan area, Rockford offers a mix of commercial and industrial businesses and sites available for development, or redevelopment. Rockford also has a variety of housing options with 1,536 housing units and a number of parks, trails and recreational amenities to add to its quality of life.

The City has a history of fostering Economic Development offering technical and financial assistance ranging from a no interest loan program, tax increment financing and development of a municipal industrial park and coordination.  The city has annexed property to the west of the city limits for the future industrial park.  The property is approximately 48 acres and borders on CSAH 32 and the Canadian Pacific Rail.
