The City of the Rockford, which was incorporated as a village in 1881, is now home to over 4,300 residents, 110 businesses and offers employment opportunities for over 1,000 employees.
Location
Located on the western edge of Hennepin County and primarily within Wright County, the city enjoys easy access to Metropolitan amenities while retaining its rural, small town charm. Ideally located along Highway 55, just 30 miles west of the metropolitan area, Rockford offers a mix of commercial and industrial businesses and sites available for development, a variety of housing options with 1,536 housing units and a number of parks, trails and recreational amenities to add to its quality of life.
Opportunity Awaits for businesses in Rockford
As a part of the 2007 Survey, residents were asked what additional goods and services are desired in the community. A grocery store was the #1 response with over 250 households expressing a desire for this type of business. A pharmacy, medical clinic, additional restaurants and variety/clothing stores were among the many goods and services requested. A copy of the residential survey is available upon request.
A recent 2011 survey asking residents about shopping habits received over 600 responses. Residents again ranked a grocery store as the #1 type of business wanted in our city.
The City has a history of Fostering Economic Development offering technical and financial assistance ranging from a no interest loan program, tax increment financing, development of a municipal industrial park and coordination of chamber meetings.
