Filing for Candidacy for City Seats
If you wish to file for a City seat that expires on December 31, 2014, you may stop by City Hall to complete an Affidavit of Candidacy. Filing for local office begins on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 until Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at City Hall (8am-4:30pm M-F and until 5pm on August 12, 2014). The filing fee is $2.00.
The City will have the following seats up for election:
- Council Member (4 year Term) – two seats open
Primary and General Elections
ALL Rockford residents in Hennepin County and Wright County vote at the Rockford Community Center – 7600 County Road 50 (Rebecca Park Trail) Door 11. The polls will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Absentee voting will not be available at City Hall to vote in person. Absentee voting will begin on Friday, June 27, 2014 for the Primary Election and September 19, 2014 for the General Election. Absentee Ballot Applications are available on-line, at the County or at City Hall, 6031 Main Street, Rockford. Complete the application and bring in person, fax or mail to the county where you live:

REGISTER TO VOTE:
If you are a new resident to the City of Rockford, recently turned 18, moved within the city or have not voted in the last four years you will need to register.
You may register to vote on Election Day, make sure you have ID such as a current driver’s license or Minnesota ID card with your correct address. If you have not changed your driver’s license you must have a current utility bill, along with your ID.
The last day to preregister is 5:00 pm at City Hall on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 for the Primary Election.
