The Milling on Maple Street will begin tomorrow, Thursday, September 22nd, from Woodlawn Drive to Tamarack Lane. The milling machine will grind off the surface layer of pavement and place it in trucks where it will be hauled from the site. The remaining surface will still be asphalt but will be rougher than the existing. This work is anticipated to be completed in one day.
The reclaiming of Maple Street from Linden Street to Sarah Lane will begin Monday, September 26th, 2022. This is a process in which the remaining asphalt and gravel is ground up and a gravel base is re-set for the paved roadway. The contractor will level and compact the material immediately after it is ground up so the roadway will remain drivable after the work is completed. This area will remain a gravel road until the new roadway is paved in the following weeks. This work is anticipated to be completed in one to two days.
During this work, Maple St. will remain open to at least one lane of traffic. At times, the contractor may reduce traffic to one lane and use flaggers to direct traffic. There may be times that the contractor momentarily holds up traffic for the safety of the workers and their equipment, so we ask that all vehicles drive safely through the project area and be patient.
